Introducing the E-Lab Blog: Mindsets

Written by Sophie Harbour

I am excited to launch the new E-Lab blog series, Mindsets, which will publish short posts to showcase the interesting people, research and innovation with which the lab is associated.

In just the last few months, in mere snippets of conversation which I have had at the E-Lab, I have marveled at the array of exciting things that people are working on, all brought together by the theme of 'entrepreneurship'. While all of these stories deserve hours (and more!) worth of time, this blog series can help share the insights in a light and accessible manner.

For me, the E-Lab is a thrilling environment to be a part of. It emanates an energy which excites and motivates; bringing together individuals from different fields of study and work. Borne from an academic context, which embodies nuanced and indepth inquiry, the E-Lab fosters dynamic but thoughtful collaboration across academia and industry.

This energy, and a glimpse of this depth, is what I hope we capture here.

Finally, the name of the series and the inspiration behind it, speaks to a key point – entrepreneurship cannot be narrowly understood as a specific activity, it must be embraced as a mindset. Our mindsets shape how we make sense of the world and guide our approach to challenges. I think that we are best equipped to develop powerful mindsets when we share with, learn from and collaborate across the diverse and inspiring networks that the E-lab nurtures.

Submissions

We are currently accepting submissions of short posts (around 800 words). This includes reflections on events hosted by the lab, opinion pieces on entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial mindset for societal challenges and examples of entrepreneurial activity in different fields. While the brief is flexible, the content must be tied in some way to entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial mindset.

I invite, encourage and hope for critical takes, that raise questions and prompt responses, as well as the recounting of interesting reflections and innovative ideas.

If you have any questions, would like to be in touch about an idea, or just want to connect, please do reach out to me!

Submissions or expressions of interest should be sent to seh220@cam.ac.uk
